TSU’s Historic Library is to soon bring new beginnings
TSU a historical black college that was founded in 1927 and had since continue to climb the ladder of being one of the more remarkable HBCU’s there are. We always pride ourselves on our great our colleges are but what are the actual significant things that make that narrative. The Robert J. Terry Library on the campus of Texas Southern University is one the more historic and older buildings. It holds resources, information, clubs, historical exhibits to visit, and the school’s honors college. Now the University has made the decision that its time to bring learning center to campus.
Today at the TSU library we explored and spoke to those who are connected with the library. From student employees to faculty these people gave us insight on what transpires at currently library and what to expect from the new library.
“It’s definitely going to be up to date not only with how it looks but with its content,” Ashley Senior Broadcast Journalism Major gives insight on the new library.
“It will be more of a learning center,” says Ashley.
The Robert James Terry Library is now a learning center, however, seems to be a little outdated with its resources. Less books are being checked out and the library would to make more books digital to their online data bases. With new library being in the process Librarian Dr. Janis Payton hopes that they will to be more active.
“We’ve received two new administrators in the past two months, and it helped a lot,” says Dr. Payton.
“We hope that we can be more active and engaging.”
TSU’s new library is to be promising and will bring a new look here to Tiger nation.
